Pouder Design Group
Providing landscape architectural and ecological planning services to clients throughout the northeast United States. Our philosophy centers on the belief that the magic of landscape is revealed by accentuating the interaction of natural and cultural elements. In a dynamic exchange, they sing and dance, rise and fall, ebb and flow. Drama, serenity, mystery and intrigue emerge. Ecological systems, which thread through the built environment, weave it together, and compelling landscapes emerge when humans engage earth, water and sky.
We view our role as that of a choreographer; to craft a response to a site which expresses the needs, desires and aspirations of those who will use it while respecting and acknowledging its underlying natural systems. To do this, we listen attentively to our clients, critically analyze the landscape with a scientist’s rigor and reply with an artist’s intuition. Much of our work centers on the stabilization, repair and enhancement of degraded ecological systems and explores issues of sustainability in the urban-suburban interface. At the most fundamental level, this reflects a belief that the future of our civilization depends on our ability to alter the pattern of human development by crafting new paradigms and technologies for our homes, towns and communities.
Nicholas Pouder, ASLA
Nicholas brings over twenty-five years of experience spanning the fields of wildlife conservation, ecological restoration, landscape architecture and site planning in both the public and private sectors. This blend of design and ecology is evident in the services we provide our residential, institutional and municipal clients. We prove on a daily basis that low impact development can occur while allowing the art of landscape to reveal itself.
